Trinidad and Tobago is the Fifth-Happiest Country in the World: Survey

Residents of Trinidad and Tobago are the fifth most positive people in the world, according to a poll released by Gallup Thursday.

Trinidad and Tobago was one of eight countries in the Latin American region among the world’s 10 most positive countries.

In Trinidad, 83 percent of respondents answered yes to all of the questions.

The survey measured “positive emotions” in 148 countries and areas last year, using five questions, asking people whether they experienced “a lot of enjoyment the day before the survey,” whether they felt respected, well-rested, laughed and smiled a lot, and did or learned something interesting.”

Panama topped the global list, with 85 percent of respondents answering “yes” to all of the questions.

Paraguay was second, followed by El Salvador and Venezuela.

A total of 148,000 people were interviewed, either by telephone or face-to-face, in the survey
