The doubles. The beaches. The corn soup. The rum. The culture. If you haven’t experienced Trinidad, you’re missing out on one of the most underrated, fascinating places to visit in the whole Caribbean.
It’s long been a particular draw for European travelers – and now KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is planning to add more flights to the island for the peak winter travel season.
KLM just added more flights to Trinidad, meaning you can now fly five times per week for the winter season, making a quick stop in St Maarten first.
That will also include the possibility of six weekly flights during the Carnival 2025 season.
The news was revealed to Caribbean Journal on the heels of this week’s World Travel Market in London.
The route has reportedly been seeing a very strong 93 percent load factor, with demand not just from The Netherlands but also nearby countries including Belgium and Luxembourg, officials said.
A gem of the southern Caribbean, Trinidad is a core Caribbean destination — but it still remains something of a well-guarded secret for many travelers, with a vibrant food scene, a collection of world-class beaches and an urban destination in Port of Spain that is unlike any other city in the wider Caribbean.
What about prices?
The lowest fare is about $1409 round trip, according to KLM.
