A New 2,000-Room Casino Resort Is Coming to Jamaica

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 13, 2016

A massive new hotel project is coming to the Caribbean.

Jamaica will be getting its first-ever casino resort, with the “Celebration Jamaica” project slated to break ground this year.

The 2,000-room “integrated resort” will include a casino, entertainment facilities and hotel rooms, the first of its kind in the country.

The project is one of two being granted approval under Jamaica’s new Integrated Resort Development and Casino legislation.

Celebration Jamaica will be built on 90 acres in Rose Hall in the greater Montego Bay area.

The project will include 1,000 rooms in the short term, with the eventual plan for 2,000 total rooms, along with a state-of-the-art music studio, a 1,200-seat theater, a banquet hall and a casino.

Celebration Jamaica Founder Robert Trotta said the project would aim at “celebrating all things Jamaican and Jamaican music in particular.”

The resort’s casino experts hail from Canada, with experience developing and operating 30 properties internationally, the company said.
