Marriott Is Adding Hotels on More Caribbean Islands, Including Aruba and Turks and Caicos

By: Alexander Britell - December 14, 2024 - 8:44 pm

Endless beach days on postcard-perfect sand. Perfect tee shots on the ocean’s edge. Stunning sunsets on blissfully uncrowded Caribbean islands.

These are some of the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean right now: Aruba, Turks and Caicos and the Dominican Republic. And in the next year, all of them will soon be home to a new Marriott-portfolio resort, including the next two St. Regis resorts opening their doors in the Caribbean.

So what’s next for Marriott in the Caribbean?

The “Great Hall” at the St. Regis in Aruba.

First? The St. Regis Aruba, which will usher in a new level of luxury to the Dutch Caribbean island’s Palm Beach when it debuts in January. The storied brand will add a new level of luxury to the island, whose luxury portfolio already includes the Ritz-Carlton, Aruba (where we’ve stayed and loved many of the amenities, particularly the quality of the beach service). The new St. Regis will have 252 rooms (52 of which will be suites), Rooms from $1,598 per night. Amenities will range from a St. Regis spa, a high-tech fitness center and a very cool boutique casino.

Then there’s South Caicos: one of the best-kept secrets in the Caribbean, a small, uncrowded, beach-filled destination that’s a universe away from Providenciales. In February, Marriott will debut its newest Luxury Collection resort: the 100-room Salterra, a sustainable, wellness-focused property with ocean views from every rooms and some cool adjoining-suite options that make perfect sense for families.

Rooms from $2021 per night in February. Salterra will also have a destination spa, six different dining concepts and a vibrant solar energy program. It’s a huge new addition for South Caicos, which measures a little over eight square miles and is most famous for its fishing and its pristine beaches.

Even better? The same day Salterra opens, American Airlines will kick off its first-ever service between Miami and South Caicos, making it easier than ever to get there.

Then there’s the The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort. The resort is right at the edge of the ocean, adjacent to the renowned Punta Espada golf course in Cap Cana, the most prestigious enclave of greater Punta Cana.

Set to open in April 2025, The St. Regis Cap Cana will feature 200 rooms and suites, along with nine dining and beverage venues. Highlights include the iconic St. Regis Bar, the Nina restaurant helmed by celebrated Chef Diego Muñoz, and the Amber Room lounge (including a focus on premium rum). Rates start at $783 per night, according to Marriott.

The upcoming openings are a sign of the breadth of Marriott’s Caribbean push right now, covering everything from the ultra-high-end to the undiscovered.
