It’s been another record-breaking year for the Dominican Republic, which remains the most-visited destination in the wider Caribbean by a rather significant margin.

Now, the country made history again, topping 8.362 million visitors in the first three quarters of 2024, the most ever in that period of a year.

That was buoyed by a strong month of September, which was 55 percent higher than the same month in 2019 and 21 percent higher than 2022, according to Dominican Republic Tourism Minister David Collado.

The Dominican Republic reported 468,916 stayover visitors in September, along with 111,701 cruise arrivals.

For the year, the Dominican Republic is reporting a total of 6.43 million air arrivals which, combined with 1.93 million cruise passengers, represents the largest ever total of for visitors in the first three quarters of a calendar year in the Dominican Republic.

The ultimate goal, Collado said, is to achieve a projected 11.5 million total visitors.
