The Anguilla Tourist Board has a new chairperson of its board of directors, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The ATB has tapped Melisha Maccow-Niles to the role, succeeding outdoing Chairman Kenroy Herbert.
Maccow-Niles is being joined on the board by new member Calla Gumbs.
Maccow-Niles “is the ideal candidate for Chairperson, based on her years of service on the ATB Board of Directors and her extensive private sector tourism experience,” Anguilla Tourism Minister Haydn Hughes said in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal. “She is a proven leader, adept at building consensus, optimizing operational costs, and she has a clear vision for the industry.”
Hughes said the priority for the new chair is to drive an expansion of the island’s source markets.
Anguilla has been working to position itself as a year-round destination, following decades as largely a high-season getaway.
The ATB has been working to change that perception, as Caribbean Journal recently reported, something that has been buoyed by the year-round opening of Anguilla’s major new luxury resort, Aurora Anguilla.
