Mexico City Has a New Accor Hotel With Ángel Views, Japanese Omakase and a Rockstar Suite

Hyde Mexico City Reforma is now open in Mexico City, bringing 106 rooms, a new Japanese restaurant and a music-driven lifestyle hotel to Paseo de la Reforma.

Hyde Mexico City Reforma is now open on Paseo de la Reforma, placing a new 106-room lifestyle hotel almost directly beside the Ángel de la Independencia. It’s the first Hyde Hotels property in Mexico, with rooms facing Reforma, a 14-seat omakase counter on the way and a top suite called the Rockstar King.

The Sept. 1 debut is bigger than another hotel opening in Mexico City. Hyde arrives as the capital’s hotel scene keeps broadening beyond the established luxury names, with newer lifestyle brands increasingly choosing individual neighborhoods and major avenues as the foundation of the stay.

That has already been playing out elsewhere around the capital. Meliá recently entered the market with its new INNSiDE hotel in Roma Norte, another example of international brands making Mexico City a bigger part of their regional growth plans. CJ recently reported on Meliá’s Mexico City debut

Hyde takes a different route: one of the city’s best-known avenues, a view of one of its defining monuments and a hotel concept centered heavily on music, art, food and nightlife.

Why Reforma Is Having Another Hotel Moment

Hyde gives the avenue a very different kind of stay. This is not a new glass tower built around a conventional luxury formula; the hotel occupies two existing towers from Mexico’s modernist era, with the original façade and infrastructure retained as part of an adaptive-reuse project.

That decision also gives Hyde an unusual relationship with another hotel that has not opened yet. The property shares its lobby, dining venues and selected common spaces with the forthcoming SO/ Mexico City Reforma, although the two hotels are being positioned separately.

Hyde is the more music-centered side of the pair, while SO/ is being developed around fashion and art. That dual-brand setup could make the address one of the more interesting new hotel complexes in central Mexico City once both sides are operating.

“Mexico’s strong regional and global travel flows” are part of the appeal, IHG CEO Elie Maalouf said earlier this year.

What the New Hyde Is Actually Like

The hotel has 106 guestrooms, studios and suites, with some categories looking directly toward Paseo de la Reforma and the Ángel de la Independencia. Room names lean hard into Hyde’s music identity, ranging from General Admission Queens to All Access Kings.

The largest statement is the Rockstar King Suite, a 506-square-foot accommodation with a king bed, separate living space and city views. It is one of several places where Hyde’s brand personality comes through more directly than it might at a conventional business hotel on Reforma.

Rooms include Bumble and bumble bath products, Lavazza coffee machines and minibars conceived in the spirit of a touring band’s backstage rider. The woven artwork comes from 86 Nudos, the studio of Karla Pellegrino.

The public spaces draw much more heavily on Mexican artists and design references. The central atrium includes Vulcano, a ceramic-covered sculpture by Mexican architect Javier Senosiain, along with cactus-inspired pieces by J. Nicole Taboada and a textile installation by Vangi Uriegas.

None of that needs to turn a stay into an architecture tour. The more useful point is that Hyde is trying to make its common areas a meaningful piece of the hotel rather than merely a passage between the street and the elevators.

The Food Program Is Still Coming Together

The biggest restaurant is Enzu Restaurant & Bar, scheduled to open in September with contemporary Japanese cooking built around seafood from Ensenada, Japanese ingredients and Mexican produce.

A binchotan charcoal robata grill will anchor part of the menu, joined by sushi and shareable plates. The restaurant will also have a 14-seat reservation-only omakase counter, giving the hotel a notably ambitious dining component for a 106-room property.

Another concept, Sun & Moon, is slated for the fourth floor later in the fall. It will begin the day with coffee, pastries, lighter dishes and all-day items before becoming a cocktail lounge at night.

A terrace linking Hyde and SO/ is also planned for dinners, guest-bartender appearances and other events. The fitness center will operate 24 hours once it opens.

That staggered rollout is worth knowing if you are booking immediately. The hotel itself is open, but some of the food, beverage and fitness experience will continue arriving during the opening season.

What We Found on Rates

The announced starting rate is $249 per night, but Caribbean Journal found substantially lower opening-period pricing during a Sept. 2 check. Expedia was showing Hyde at $119 nightly, or $143 total, for a Sept. 6-7 stay, although hotel pricing can change quickly and depends on room type and booking conditions.

That makes the opening period especially interesting. Hyde is also promoting discounts of up to 25 percent for stays between Sept. 1 and Dec. 28 when booked by Sept. 30, with breakfast included under the offer.

There is another launch promotion through Ennismore’s Dis-loyalty membership program. Members staying at least three nights can receive 50 percent savings during the inaugural season through Dec. 1, according to the company.

Those offers put Hyde into a notably competitive bracket for a new lifestyle hotel beside the Ángel. Nearby luxury rates can climb much higher, especially at the established five-star names along Reforma.

Getting There From the United States

New York is one of the easiest mainland gateways for a Mexico City trip, with multiple airlines flying nonstop. A current CJ route check puts the nonstop trip at roughly 5 hours and 35 minutes from New York, with Aeromexico, American Airlines, Delta and VivaAerobus all appearing on the route.

Once you land, Hyde says the hotel sits about 13 kilometers from Mexico City’s main international airport. Actual drive times can vary considerably with traffic, something that becomes especially relevant around Reforma during the busiest parts of the day.

The hotel is also about 3.3 kilometers from the Historic Center. Roma Norte, Condesa, Chapultepec and Polanco are all within the broader central-city zone that makes Reforma a practical base for a first or repeat Mexico City trip.

Which Mexico City Hotel Is Right for You?

Hyde makes the most sense if you want to stay directly on Reforma but prefer something younger and more nightlife-oriented than the avenue’s classic luxury hotels. The location also gives you an easy jumping-off point for restaurants, galleries and bars in Roma Norte, Zona Rosa and nearby Condesa.

The St. Regis Mexico City remains a stronger fit if you want a more traditional luxury stay, deeper service and a full spa program. Its renovation is nearing completion, making the difference between the two hotels even clearer: St. Regis for full-service luxury, Hyde for a more social, lifestyle-heavy trip.

Roma Norte is another option entirely. The arrival of INNSiDE Mexico City Roma Norte has added another international hotel directly inside a neighborhood many visitors already spend a large part of their trip exploring.

Hyde’s advantage is its combination: Reforma outside, the Ángel almost next door, relatively small room count, Japanese dining downstairs and a hotel identity that is much less formal than many of its immediate neighbors.

Mexico City continues to add hotels at a striking pace, but the most interesting new arrivals are increasingly defined by exactly where they land and the kind of trip they are trying to create. With Hyde Mexico City Reforma now open, one of the capital’s most famous avenues has a new option — and this one is aimed squarely at travelers who want the city’s restaurants, art and late-night energy within easy reach of their room.
