How to Vote for The Bahamas Travel and Sustainability Awards 2025

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, in collaboration with Caribbean Journal, is proud to announce the return of the Bahamas Travel & Sustainability Awards for its third year. These awards serve is a platform to recognize, honor and celebrate Bahamian stakeholders and industry partners who have made significant contributions to our sustainable development and offerings as a tourism destination.

From July 2 to Sept. 2, residents, visitors, and industry professionals are invited to vote for the individuals, businesses, and experiences making a lasting impact on Bahamian tourism.  

“Sustainability is at the core of our tourism product, and we are proud to honor those setting new standards for environmental stewardship in The Bahamas,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, The Hon. I. Chester Cooper.

“These awards are more than just recognition—they reflect our national commitment to building a resilient and responsible tourism sector.”

The awards, which celebrate the best in Bahamian tourism, feature 24 categories, ranging covering destinations, lodging, gastronomy, experiences and individual achievement. These include: Destination of the Year; Best Beach; Best Luxury Resort; Best Boutique Hotel; Best Restaurant; Best All-Inclusive Resort; Sustainable Hotel of the Year; Sustainable Destination of the Year; Best Airline; Best Marina; Best Cruise Line; Best People-to-People Host/Hostess; Best Bar; Best Experience/Attraction; Community Tourism Award; Environmental Conservation Award; Best Taxi Driver; Best Chef; Hotel Executive of the Year; Sustainable Tourism Leadership Award; Best Fishing Lodge; Best Bartender; Best Conch Salad; and Best Cocktail.

The nominations were made by Caribbean Journal’s editorial team and winners will be chosen through public voting via an online ballot hosted by Caribbean Journal.

Voting is limited to one entry per email address.  Winners will be announced at an awards presentation in Nassau in September 2025. 

Voting opens July 2 through an online ballot hosted by Caribbean Journal and remains live through midnight eastern time Sept. 2, 2025.

The highest-vote recipient in each category will be named the 2025 winner. Nominations were made by Caribbean Journal’s editorial team. Voting is limited to one entry per email address. Winners will be announced at an awards presentation in Nassau in September 2025.

“CJ has chronicled The Bahamas’ evolution for more than a decade,” said Alexander Britell, editor and publisher of Caribbean Journal.  “Partnering on these awards allows us to showcase the destinations and innovators setting new standards for sustainable travel, while engaging our global readership in the selection process.”

Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Director General Latia Duncombe further echoed the significance of the awards in promoting sustainable practices and eco-friendly development, while highlighting the local sustainable action heroes on the frontline.

“These awards are our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the individuals and teams who pour their hearts into our tourism industry,” said Duncombe.

“Their hard work elevates our visitor experience and puts The Bahamas on the global stage as a shining example of what sustainable tourism can look like.”

Duncombe added that the awards also align with the ministry’s latest “Lifetime of Islands” campaign, reminding visitors that The Bahamas is not just one island, it’s a lifetime of them – each with its unique identity offering something for everyone.

Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and inspired by its extraordinary natural beauty and rich culture, The Bahamas has embraced critical and overarching objectives to promote continued prosperity in the destination while protecting the natural resources driving its leading position in tourism in the Caribbean.

Those include protecting biodiversity and marine life; taking urgent proactive action to combat climate change and its broader impacts; and protecting, restoring and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, ethically stewarding national forests, combating desertification and halting and reversing land degradation and biodiversity loss.
