This Secret Caribbean Marriott Hideaway Has Just 25 Lodges, a Chocolate Farm and Piton Views
Rabot Hotel in Saint Lucia pairs open-air rainforest lodges with cacao cuisine and a spectacular infinity pool — and a Marriott connection you might never have expected.
You’re on a private verandah in the Saint Lucia rainforest, looking toward Petit Piton. Behind you is a lodge with a pitched wooden roof and a shower open to the sky. Down at the restaurant, cacao grown on the estate makes its way into dinner. The pool comes with a mountain view that could occupy an entire afternoon.
This is Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat, a 25-lodge retreat near Soufriere that has long been one of our favorite small-hotel discoveries in the Caribbean.
And there’s a detail that makes it particularly interesting right now: you can find it on Marriott.
Rabot is listed as a member of Design Hotels, giving this intimate cocoa-estate hideaway a connection to Marriott’s hotel portfolio. That makes it something of a secret Marriott option in the Caribbean, with an experience centered on rainforest, chocolate and Saint Lucia’s extraordinary volcanic landscape.
The Marriott Connection
The name on the reservation is Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat, a Member of Design Hotels. The affiliation is the key to understanding the Marriott connection: this is a Hotel Chocolat property participating through Design Hotels.
That puts an unexpected Saint Lucia stay into the Marriott search process. You can look up Rabot alongside the company’s other Caribbean options, then book a holiday in a small collection of lodges on a working cacao estate.
There’s one booking detail to check. Marriott specifically notes that some Marriott Bonvoy benefits may not apply at Design Hotels properties. Review the applicable benefits and your selected reservation terms before booking, particularly if elite privileges are part of your decision.
A Small Hotel We’ve Been Following for Years
We featured Rabot as our Small Caribbean Hotel of the Week, highlighting its working cacao farm, locally sourced dining and memorable pool.
Our history with the property goes back further. When we visited its earlier incarnation, Boucan by Hotel Chocolat, we spent the morning gathering cacao fruit and grafting trees, then made chocolate in the afternoon. We wrote about it in The Caribbean’s Chocolate Hotel.
That experience explains why Rabot deserves a closer look. The agricultural setting gives you something tangible to do, taste and learn during your stay. You can spend a morning understanding the ingredient that turns up later on your plate, with plenty of time left for the pool.
The Lodge to Book
Rabot has two principal accommodation categories: Lodges and Luxe Lodges.
The Lodges measure 450 square feet, with pitched wooden roofs and open-sky rainforest showers. The architecture brings the surroundings into the stay, making the outdoor setting part of the room experience.
Our pick is the Luxe Lodge. At 750 square feet, it gives you considerably more space, along with a private verandah, sun loungers and views toward Petit Piton. It’s the category to choose if you picture long stretches outside your room, reading with the mountain in front of you.
The verandah matters here. At a hotel this closely tied to its setting, having your own place to sit outdoors adds another reason to leave the afternoon unscheduled.
The Pool Is a Reason to Stay
Club Boucan is the hotel’s guest-only pool area, with a 50-foot black-quartz infinity pool facing Petit Piton. Sun loungers line the water, and the mountain provides the backdrop.
This is where Rabot’s hillside location becomes particularly compelling. You’re swimming above the coast, surrounded by tropical greenery, with one of the Caribbean’s most recognizable landmarks directly in view.
The property is adults-only, and its 25-lodge size makes this a particularly good choice for a couples’ vacation centered on privacy, dining and time outdoors. There’s a spa, too: Beauté de Cacao incorporates estate ingredients into its massages and wellness treatments, carrying the cacao connection into another part of the stay.
Chocolate Goes Well Beyond Dessert
At Rabot Restaurant, estate-grown cacao and seasonal Saint Lucian produce shape the menu. The ingredient appears in savory preparations as well as sweets, giving dinner a direct connection to the surrounding farm.
Project Chocolat adds the hands-on component. Its six-acre site hosts experiences that follow cacao from the trees to the finished bar. On the Tree to Bar tour, you can explore the groves, learn about grafting and handcraft chocolate of your own.
We’ve covered that chocolate tradition in Saint Lucia for years. Staying at Rabot lets you make it a central part of your vacation, with the farm close at hand throughout your visit.
How to Plan Your Stay
Rabot is near Soufriere in southwestern Saint Lucia. In our earlier hotel guide, we put the drive from Hewanorra International Airport at about 45 minutes.
Choose it for the lodges, the mountain views and the opportunity to stay on a working cocoa estate. Give yourself enough time for a chocolate experience, a spa appointment and an afternoon that begins and ends beside the pool.
The Marriott affiliation adds another way to find and reserve it. The reason to go is Rabot itself: a small Saint Lucia hotel where your private verandah, your dinner and your morning chocolate lesson all connect to the same remarkable setting.
