Breeze Airways Is Adding New Year-Round Flights From Tampa to Santo Domingo
The new route launches in June 2027, with twice-weekly nonstop service to the Dominican Republic’s capital.
Breeze Airways is adding another Caribbean destination from Tampa, this time with a route to the historic streets, restaurants and waterfront of Santo Domingo. The new service will give travelers on Florida’s Gulf Coast a year-round nonstop connection to the Dominican Republic’s capital, starting June 18, 2027.
Flights will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, between Tampa International Airport and Las Américas International Airport. Breeze will use Airbus A220-300 aircraft on the route, with tickets already available for purchase. Tampa International Airport says it will be the first airline to serve the Tampa–Santo Domingo route throughout the year.
The schedule lends itself to a long weekend: fly down Friday, spend three nights in the capital and return Monday afternoon. You can also stay a week or longer, with the same two operating days governing trips in both directions.
Departures from Tampa are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., arriving in Santo Domingo at 1:25 p.m. The return flight leaves at 2:25 p.m. and reaches Tampa at 5:30 p.m., according to the airport’s published schedule. All times are local.
That puts you in the Dominican capital early enough to head into town and go out on your first evening. The afternoon return leaves room for breakfast and a final morning in the city before the trip to Las Américas.
Santo Domingo adds a different kind of Dominican Republic trip to Breeze’s Tampa network. The airline began nonstop service to Punta Cana on July 2, 2026, giving Gulf Coast travelers access to the country’s eastern resort region. The new route brings the capital into the mix, with its museums, Dominican cuisine and walkable historic quarter.
The Colonial Zone is the natural starting point for a first visit. Its UNESCO-listed streets bring together 16th-century architecture, churches and museums, with places to stop for coffee or lunch between sightseeing. Beyond the historic district, the Malecón follows the Caribbean waterfront, while Los Tres Ojos adds a cave-and-lagoon excursion to a city itinerary.
We’ve been following Santo Domingo’s expanding flight connections, including Arajet’s addition of Newark service. Breeze’s Tampa route adds another U.S. departure point for travelers considering the capital, whether the visit is for a few days of exploring, a business trip or time with family.
The new service also extends a busy period of Caribbean expansion for Breeze in Tampa. Its nonstop Nassau route began June 11, 2026, followed by Punta Cana in July and San José, Costa Rica, in October. Those additions have widened the range of destinations reachable directly from Florida’s Gulf Coast.
The carrier is also adding Tampa–St. Thomas flights this December, bringing another island option to the airport’s departure board. That service is scheduled to operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning Dec. 16, 2026.
With Santo Domingo, the appeal is both the destination and the year-round calendar. Travelers will have a recurring nonstop option beyond a single holiday or winter season, with Friday departures particularly convenient for a short visit.
If you’re planning a first trip, three nights gives you time to concentrate on the Colonial Zone, visit museums and devote a few evenings to the capital’s restaurants. A longer stay lets you explore beyond the historic center at a more leisurely pace. Starting next June, either itinerary begins with a nonstop flight from Tampa.
