One of the Caribbean’s Top Beaches Is Getting a New InterContinental Resort

The burgeoning resort corridor at La Sagesse is getting another major name. Construction has already transformed this part of Grenada, where the Six Senses La Sagesse opened in 2024, and another luxury hotel is now approaching its debut nearby.

The InterContinental Grenada Resort & Spa is accepting reservations for stays beginning Nov. 4, giving Grenada its biggest new hotel opening of 2026.

The 120-room resort will bring InterContinental Hotels & Resorts to La Sagesse with three restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, a large outdoor pool, and a beach club. The developer is Range Developments, the same company behind the Six Senses project next door, which opened in 2024.

It gives La Sagesse two internationally known luxury brands developed by the same company, along with a growing residential component nearby.

A Second Major Resort From Range Developments

Range Developments already has a significant Caribbean hotel portfolio.

The company developed the Six Senses La Sagesse, which opened in April 2024 as the Six Senses brand’s first Caribbean resort. Range has also developed the Park Hyatt St. Kitts and the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa.

Now Grenada becomes the developer’s first Caribbean destination with 2 of its major resort projects operating close to one another.

The new InterContinental Grenada Resort & Spa is planned for La Sagesse in St. David’s, bringing a larger conventional luxury-resort format to the same part of the island where Six Senses introduced its collection of suites and villas.

The 2 hotels will give you very different options within the same area. Six Senses has a strong wellness identity, private-pool accommodations, villas, gardens, and an intimate resort experience. The InterContinental will have 120 guest rooms and suites, a substantial pool and beach club, three restaurants, and indoor and outdoor areas for meetings and events.

Range is also developing The La Sagesse Collection, a residential project beside the resorts.

What Will the New InterContinental Be Like?

IHG describes the property as a bayfront resort overlooking La Sagesse Bay.

The accommodations will include guest rooms and suites, although IHG has not yet released the complete room-category lineup. Images released by the hotel show contemporary interiors, balconies facing the grounds and bay, and extensive outdoor areas connected to the main resort buildings.

A major piece of the experience will be the pool and beach club. The outdoor pool occupies a prominent position across the resort, with the beach immediately beyond it.

There will also be three on-site restaurants.

IHG has yet to publish the full names and individual concepts for all 3 venues, although the company says the restaurants will use local ingredients alongside international culinary influences. Dining will be an important component here, particularly given the hotel’s location outside Grenada’s traditional hotel concentration around Grand Anse.

The resort will also have daily housekeeping, on-site parking, pet-friendly accommodations, and a single-use-plastic-free hotel program.

Check-in is scheduled for 3 p.m., with noon checkout.

La Sagesse Is Becoming a Major Grenada Hotel Address

The location is an important part of the story.

Much of Grenada’s best-known resort inventory has historically been concentrated around Grand Anse, Lance aux Epines, and the southwestern side of the island. La Sagesse is in St. David’s, farther east, with a long white-sand beach and a much smaller collection of hotels and restaurants around it.

The arrival of the Six Senses changed the hotel map.

The resort brought one of the world’s highest-end hotel brands to Grenada and introduced a new reason to stay on this side of the island. The coming InterContinental adds substantially more room inventory nearby.

You will now have the Six Senses and InterContinental within the broader La Sagesse development, while the residential project adds another piece to the area.

The result is a new concentration of high-end accommodations in a part of Grenada that, only a few years ago, had very little large-resort inventory.

A Different Kind of InterContinental

The InterContinental brand has been expanding its Caribbean portfolio, although each of its regional properties has a distinct personality.

Range Developments previously partnered with IHG on the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa, near Portsmouth in northern Dominica. Grenada will extend the relationship between the developer and IHG.

The new Grenada property appears designed primarily around leisure travel, with the pool, beach club, restaurants, spa, and La Sagesse location taking leading roles.

The hotel will still have extensive indoor and outdoor meeting and event areas, giving Grenada another option for destination weddings, corporate groups, incentives, and other gatherings.

IHG is already promoting group offers tied to stays beginning later this year, another indication of how the resort plans to balance vacation travel with group business.

What About the Spa?

Wellness will be another major component.

IHG says the InterContinental Grenada spa will draw on Grenadian botanicals and minerals, with natural treatments and a local ingredient focus.

The hotel has not yet released a complete treatment menu or details on the number of treatment rooms.

A state-of-the-art fitness center will complement the spa, while the outdoor pool will be another focal point across the main resort grounds.

Grenada already has a strong collection of wellness-oriented hotels, led most visibly by Six Senses nearby. The InterContinental will give you another spa-driven option in La Sagesse at a larger resort.

And Yes, Six Senses Is Right Nearby

The connection between the 2 hotels is unusual enough to shape the experience of this part of Grenada.

The Six Senses La Sagesse occupies 38 acres and combines suites, villas, wellness programs, restaurants, gardens, and outdoor activities. It opened in 2024 after years of development by Range.

Now the company is adding an InterContinental close by.

You could choose Six Senses for its villa inventory and highly specialized wellness program, or the new InterContinental for a more traditional luxury-resort stay with a larger room count and beach-club component.

Both put you in La Sagesse, a part of Grenada that provides a very different vacation from staying near Grand Anse.

If you want to spend an afternoon in St. George’s, visit the waterfalls and interior of the island, explore Grenada’s cocoa and spice estates, or head across to the southwest for restaurants and beaches, you can use La Sagesse as the base for a broader island trip.

Grenada’s Hotel Pipeline Keeps Growing

The InterContinental arrives during a particularly active period for Grenada’s luxury hotel sector.

The Six Senses opening gave the island another internationally prominent brand in 2024. The new InterContinental adds 120 rooms and suites 2 years later, with a familiar developer behind both properties.

Grenada already has a diverse upper-end hotel collection, from large beachfront resorts to boutique properties and private villas. More branded luxury inventory expands the choices, particularly outside the Grand Anse area.

There is also the strength of InterContinental’s global reservation network and IHG One Rewards, which puts the new resort in front of a large base of travelers who may not previously have considered La Sagesse.

You will be able to earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points here, subject to the program’s usual rules, adding a loyalty option to one of Grenada’s newest hotel areas.

How Do You Get to La Sagesse?

International flights arrive at Maurice Bishop International Airport, Grenada’s principal international gateway.

From there, you head east toward St. David’s and La Sagesse.

The location gives you a useful base if your Grenada trip includes more than Grand Anse. St. David’s puts you closer to several inland attractions and communities along the eastern side of the island, while St. George’s and the southwest remain within reach for day trips, restaurants, shopping, and additional beaches.

La Sagesse itself has long been known for its white-sand beach, and the presence of 2 major resorts means you now have considerably more hotel choice here.

When Is the InterContinental Grenada Opening?

IHG is currently accepting reservations for arrivals beginning Nov. 4.

The hotel remains officially listed as opening soon, so the opening date remains subject to the usual pre-debut changes that can accompany a new resort.

If the current date holds, Grenada will enter the winter travel season with a brand-new InterContinental and 120 additional rooms and suites in La Sagesse.

The opening will also mark the next chapter for Range Developments in Grenada. After bringing Six Senses to the island, the developer is returning to the same part of St. David’s with another global hotel name, a bigger room count, three restaurants, and a new beach club.

By November, La Sagesse could have both Six Senses and InterContinental welcoming travelers within the same growing resort district, giving Grenada a luxury hotel concentration unlike anything previously developed on this side of the island.
