Some beaches are long, empty stretches of sand. Others are made for floating in calm water, snorkeling beside the rocks or settling into a beach bar with something cold in your hand.

In Aruba, you get all of them.

The Dutch Caribbean island has one of the most varied collections of beaches in the region, from the immense sweep of Eagle Beach to the shallow lagoon at Baby Beach and the windsurfing waters of Hadicurari Beach.

It’s also one of the best collections of beaches anywhere on earth.

You can spend one day beneath a palapa, another swimming beside a high-rise resort and a third exploring the quieter coves near Malmok. Then you can cross the island to Boca Grandi, where the wind, waves and kiteboarders reveal Aruba’s wilder side.

The distances are short, the water is famously blue and nearly every part of Aruba’s western, southern and eastern edges offers a different version of the perfect Caribbean beach day.

These are eight best beaches in Aruba that need to be on your list.

Eagle Beach, The Wide-Open Aruba Classic

There are beautiful beaches in Aruba, and then there is Eagle Beach.

The island’s most famous stretch of sand is extraordinarily wide, giving it a sense of space that is increasingly rare in the Caribbean. Even when the beach is busy, you can usually find a quiet patch of sand, a palapa and plenty of room between you and the next beach towel.

The water is typically calm and clear, with the luminous turquoise color that has become inseparable from Aruba itself. The beach is also home to the island’s famous divi-divi and fofoti trees, their wind-shaped silhouettes appearing in countless photographs of the destination.

Eagle Beach works for just about every kind of traveler. Families have room to spread out. Couples can find quieter corners. Swimmers can stay in the water for long stretches, and walkers can follow the sand for what feels like miles.

The beach is also home to some of Aruba’s standout resorts. The resort brings a quieter personality to Eagle Beach, with the sand directly outside and an atmosphere designed around couples. Towards the northern end of the beach is one of our favorite places to stay in Aruba: the fantastic Embassy Suites by Hilton Aruba.

If you are visiting Aruba for the first time, Eagle Beach is the beach you have to see.
