Marriott Is Opening a New St. Regis Resort in Costa Rica’s Papagayo

Another new St. Regis residential resort is coming to the Caribbean Basin, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Residences at the St Regis Papagayo in Costa Rica is set for completion in December 2026, according to developer Solana.

The new project will be set about 25 minutes from Costa Rica’s Guanacaste Internaitonal Airport.

Designed by Sordo Madaleno Architects, with interiors by Gentler, the resort will include a mix of two and three-bedroom residences including a signature Astor Mansion with six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a private gym, among other amenities.

“We’re very excited to create this new resort on one of the most desired oceanfront sites in Papagayo. The opportunity to bring in the iconic St. Regis brand to the region will attract real estate purchasers and hotel guests from around the world,” said Alberto Halabe, partner at Solana, which also developed the St Regis Mexico City.

The residential resort will include a beach bar, a signature St. Regis bar; a spa and fitness club; a children’s club; a teens club and a “wellness golf course” designed by Piza Golf, which has been behind several unique golf concepts in Mexico in recent years.

It’s one of a growing pipeline of St Regis-branded residential resorts in the wider Caribbean Basin, including the soon-to-open St. Regis Cap Cana and the new St. Regis Kanai in the Riviera Maya, which opened in 2023

“We also have experience developing resort properties in Guanacaste, so we realize what an amazing opportunity this is. We look forward to bringing our vision to life on one of the most beautiful beaches in the happiest country on earth. Both luxury and Pura Vida will truly come to life at the St. Regis Papagayo, and the amazing team that was brought together to make sure of it,” Halabe said in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal.
