Marriott Just Opened a St Regis Resort in the Riviera Maya

By: Alexander Britell - March 17, 2023

Marriott has opened its newest St Regis resort in the Caribbean region: the striking new St Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya.

The luxury resort has 124 rooms and 19 suites in a setting in the new Kanai development on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

It’s part of what will soon be a growing Caribbean portfolio for the St Regis brand, with another highly-anticipated resort, the St Regis Cap Cana, also opening imminently, and the renowned St Regis Bahia Beach in Puerto Rico.

The resort is set adjacent to a 620-acre nature reserve called Sian Ka’an, a short drive from both Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.

“Kanai is a vibrant oasis yet to be discovered by many global travelers, but with its striking natural surroundings, rich cultural history, and inherent connection to the land, it is set to take its place among the world’s most coveted leisure destinations,” said George Fleck, Vice President and Global Brand Leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “We are thrilled to welcome The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Rivera Maya to our expanding global portfolio of legendary hotels and resorts.

The resort, designed by Edmonds International, has direct access to two miles of white sand beach; amenities include a broad dining program that ranges fro the Richard Sandoval-created Toro to a South of France-inspired eatery called Riviera to a signature St Regis Bar.

That’s along with the hidden speakeasy, Jack’s Club, the grab-and-go deli Pik Nik and a beach club.

There is a destination St Regis Spa, with a Mayan-inspired treatment menu that ranges from a Celestial Energy treatment to hot stone massages under the moonlight.

For families, there is the Tortuga Children’s Club, and several family cabanas at the pool.

Meeting space includes 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space across six different venues.

“We look forward to offering guests exceptional experiences that are a reflection of both the history of the destination and the celebrated traditions and rituals of St. Regis,” said David Cayuela, Multi Property General Manager, The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya. “The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya will provide our guests with a sense of exquisite ease, enlivened by the brand’s signature Butler Service, which is purposefully tailored for each of our global luminaries.”

It’s a significant new addition to the luxury landscape of the Mexican Caribbean, joining a small but rarefied collection that includes resorts like the Rosewood Mayakoba, the Grand Residences Riviera Cancun and the soon-to-relaunch Maroma, a Belmond Resort, among others.
