American Airlines Has a New Nonstop Flight to La Romana in the Dominican Republic

The new flights make it easier to visit the Casa de Campo resort.

Your flight lands, you head through customs, hop into a golf cart and head for one of the Caribbean’s top luxury resorts.

In a few months, American Airlines will be kicking off a brand-new route to La Romana in the Dominican Republic — giving travelers a unique, ultra-convenient way to visit the Casa de Campo Resort and Villas, one of the most in-demand places to stay in the region right now.

American Airlines and Miami International Airport officially launched the route in a ceremony on Tuesday, joined by officials from the Dominican Republic resort, whose 7,000-acre property includes the La Romana Airport.

The service will begin on Dec. 5, with flights operating every day of the week, and tickets are now on sale.

It comes as the property is celebrating its 60th anniversary in the Dominican Republic this year, as Caribbean Journal recently reported.

I recently stayed at the property and it’s better than ever, whether you’re in one of its hundreds of fully-staffed villas or its new Premier Club hotel-within-a-hotel, you’re getting one of the most complete resorts in the wider Caribbean.

That includes everything from an unrivaled, Pete Dye-designed golf offering headlined by the world-renowned Teeth of the Dog course to a replica 16th century hilltop Mediterranean village to a fantastic beach club, just a few of the myriad amenities you get at what fans call “Casa.”

That’s along with a full-service racquet sports offering with tennis and pickleball; a large kids-club program for younger children and teens;

The new flight makes it even easier to get to La Romana, which right now typically means flying into either Santo Domingo or Punta Cana and taking what amounts to about an hour-long drive.

It was the product of a joint collaboration between Casa de Campo officials led by VP Jason Kycek and Miami Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera.

Here, you can fly in, check in and be teeing off on the edge of the Caribbean Sea in less than an hour.

So what will the flights cost?

If you book an itinerary in the second week of December, they’re very affordable: starting at $334 roundtrip in Basic Economy and $384 in the main cabin, according to AA.com.
