JetBlue Is Adding Daily Nonstop Puerto Rico Flights From a New Market
In recent years, the Caribbean has begun tapping into emerging source markets in the United States, concentrated in the Midwest and California.
But another area is becoming increasingly important for island destinations in the Caribbean: New England.
In the last few years, more and more carriers have added new flights and routes from cities in the region, beyond the traditional hub of Boston.

That includes cities like New Haven and Hartford in Connecticut and, most recently, Providence, Rhode Island.
The newest addition? A planned JetBlue flight connecting Providence with San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Beginning in October, JetBlue will launch daily nonstop service between Providence and San Juan, connecting the Rhode Island capital with Puerto Rico’s surging travel hotspot.
The route will officially kick off on Oct. 28, 2024 – and, more importantly, will be operating year-round.

It’s a testament to the growth of the New England market, particularly since the pandemic, and a reminder of the continued pull of the Caribbean for American travelers.
The flights are now available for booking. So what will they cost?
A sample itinerary booked on JetBlue’s Blue fare costs about $300. The flight takes about 4 hours.
Of course, if you’re looking to head to San Juan, the city has more flights from the continental US than just about any destination in the Caribbean, meaning it’s easy (and often quite cheap) to fly there.

Are you planning a trip to San Juan? The vibrant capital is a complex, layered destination that’s actually a collection of vastly different, fascinating neighborhoods, from Old San Juan to Condado.
Right now, we still recommend Old San Juan if you want an authentic Puerto Rico getaway — and a stay in one of the old town’s lovely historic hotels like El Convento or the recently-rebranded Palacio Provincial. (And make sure you grab the best Piña Colada in Puerto Rico).
