Kimpton Readies for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Debut
Cayman, Tulum, Roatan and now the Dominican Republic. The Kimpton brand is set continue its Caribbean expansion next month with the debut of the new Kimpton Las Mercedes in the increasingly popular capital of Santo Domingo.
The new resort, set in the heart of Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone, is already taking bookings online for early July, Caribbean Journal has learned.
It’s the first Kimpton in the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, and a major new branded resort for the Colonial Zone, a fascinating, vibrant historic quarter that is starting to get its moment with international travelers.
The Kimpton boost just help, with everything from a rooftop pool to a cigar lounge on offer.

Rates are starting at just $177 per night, according to parent company IHG’s Web site.
