This Beachfront Dominican Republic All-Inclusive Just Held Its Grand Opening

The Dominican Republic’s emerging tourism hub of Miches took a major step forward this week with the opening of a new beachfront resort by Viva Resorts by Wyndham.

President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado were on hand to inaugurate the Viva Miches by Wyndham, a 538-room resort set along Playa, marking a milestone in the area’s transformation into a major Caribbean destination.

The resort has already been welcoming guests for several months, as Caribbean Journal reported.

Miches has been the hottest development destination in the Dominican Republic in recent years, with a growing pipeline that includes a Club Med (the first property to open in the area) and a Marriott.

“This is the result of strong collaboration between the public and private sectors,” said President Abinader. “This is a pro-business government, because that is how wealth is created — by creating jobs.”

Abinader said that the Miches area is on track to support around 2,000 hotel rooms, bringing with it more than 2,400 direct jobs and an estimated three indirect jobs for every room — a meaningful economic boost for the region.

Tourism Minister David Collado called the resort’s debut “the definitive takeoff of Miches” as a destination, underscoring the role of continued infrastructure development and sustained private investment.

Viva Miches by Wyndham is the sixth resort in the Dominican Republic for the Viva brand, which also operates resorts in Mexico and The Bahamas.

The new all-inclusive property features five restaurants, entertainment areas, and a full suite of amenities. Its second phase will expand capacity and further integrate sustainability features, the company said.

The project was designed by Simples Arquitectura, with a focus on environmental integration and sustainability, aligning with Wyndham’s Green program goals that include responsible water use, energy efficiency, and the reduction of plastics.

Ettore Colussi, founder and president of Viva Resorts by Wyndham, emphasized the company’s long-standing ties to the Dominican Republic, dating back nearly four decades.

“This, our sixth resort in the country, is a testament to our confidence in the Dominican Republic and the future of Miches,” Colussi said.

The property will also support regional sustainability through its participation in Promiches, a public-private initiative that supports local artisan networks, environmental programs like sea turtle protection, and community-led infrastructure upkeep.

With this grand opening, Viva Miches by Wyndham becomes the latest addition to a growing list of new tourism investments in Miches — a destination now firmly on the Caribbean tourism map.

So what about prices? You can stay at the all-inclusive for $213 per night right now.
