Tourism Is Heating Up in Martinique

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 28, 2024 - 1:56 pm

Travel to Martinique is heating up so far in 2024, according to new data from analytics firm ForwardKeys.

The French Caribbean island has seen a 4 percent jump in international arrivals so far this year, compared to the same period in 2023.

That is ahead of nearby Guadeloupe, which has seen a 1 percent decline in the same period, according to the report, which was unveiled during the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace conference in Montego Bay last week.

The increase comes as Martinique just unveiled new service from the important Caribbean hub of St Maarten on regional carrier Winair.

That service is operating twice weekly, with flights on Mondays and Thursdays between St Maarten and Fort de France’s Aime Cesaire International Airport.

That complements existing service on American Airlines between Miami and Martinique, which operates throughout the year.

Martinique can also be accessed by regular ferry service from Dominica, which has nonstop flights from Miami on American.
