US Virgin Islands Continues Winter-Spring Travel Push

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 31, 2024

The US Virgin Islands is continuing to ramp up its push to promote the territory as a winter and spring destination.

US Virgin Islands Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte led a delegation across major US cities this month, including Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles and New York, in a bid to garner enhanced media attention and promote the USVI as a travel hotspot.

“We’re delighted to have shared our message with millions of viewers, inviting them to discover our islands,” Boschulte said. “The U.S. Virgin Islands blend the beauty of the Caribbean with the convenience of domestic travel, providing a tropical paradise where visitors can immerse themselves in our breathtaking natural landscapes, vibrant culture, and rich history.”

The tour helped highlight some of the destination’s major new hotels, including the Westin Beach Resort and the Morningstar Buoy Haus Beach Resort at Frenchman’s Reef in St Thomas.

The island also recently added a new “jetcar” rental operation, an experience that blends the fun of a jetski with the “familiarity of a sports car.”

The tour also highlighted one of the USVI’s strongest selling points: the lack of a passport requirement for US citizens.

Boschulte highlighted a range of vacation experiences in the USVI, from hiking in St John to the island’s robust slate of festivals like the St Croix Agriculture Festival next month and the upcoming St Thomas Carnival in March and April.
