Big boom in tourism from Canada

The Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao is seeing a big surge in tourism from Canada, according to new data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The island received 10,776 tourists from Canada in the first five months of 2015, a 35.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2014.

That made the island the fastest-growing Caribbean tourism destination for Canadians so far this year, followed by Barbados.

The island is also reporting 19.7 percent growth in US tourism as well.
