A Wine Blending Course in The Bahamas

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - April 1, 2022 - 12:06 pm

It’s long been one of the gourmet capitals of the Caribbean: Graycliff, the centuries-old manor in Nassau that’s home to a world-class restaurant, a boutique hotel, a chocolate factory and a cigar factory, among other things.

And now the hotel, which features the third-largest private wine cellar in the world, has added another amenity: a wine-blending course.

The setting is Graycliff’s Bahama Barrels, the only winery in The Bahamas (featuring wines from top regions in Europe, South America and California), where guests can take the “Winemaker for a Day” course, led by a Bahamian winemaker.

The course teaches the nuances of wine: tannins, acidity, balance and finish.

The blending involves a mix of varietals that means you can create your own personal bottle of wine — along with a custom label.
