Costa Rica Is Updating Its Travel Requirements

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 16, 2021 - 11:17 am

Costa Rica is updating its travel requirements beginning Aug. 1, Caribbean Journal has learned.

On that date, vaccinated travelers will be able to enter Costa Rica without purchasing travel insurance.

That will also apply to minors under the age of 18.

The aim is to increase tourist visitation, according to a statement from Visit Costa Rica.

The country will still require each tourist, regardless of age or vaccination status, to complete the destination’s “Health Pass” at least 72 hours before their trip

“As vaccination advances in priority markets for Costa Rican tourism and to benefit the reactivation of international travel, it is important to make the requirements more flexible for individuals who do not represent a high risk (in terms of economic cost) of serious disease nor hospitalization for the State,” said Costa Rica Tourism Minister Gustavo Segura.
