The Turks and Caicos has sworn in new Supreme Court Justice Joan Joyner, following similar ceremonies for recently-appointed Justices Edwin Goldsbrough and Margaret Ramsay-Hale.

Joyner was previously the Chief Magistrate of Turks and Caicos, and had also served as a senior crown counsel in TCI. She was also the Director of Public Prosecutions in St Kitts and Nevis.

Joyner joins Chief Justice Edwin Goldsbrough, who was formerly the head of the civil division of the High Court and acting President of the Court of Appeal of the Solomon Islands.

Goldsbrough had also advised on the establishment of the Judicial College of Zimbabwe.

Ramsay-Hale, a native of Jamaica, was previously the Chief Magistrate of the Cayman Islands and had acted as a judge of the Grand Court. A graduate of the Norman Manley Law School, she is the Caribbean regional member of the Council of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association.
