A New Kind of San Juan Tour

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - September 2, 2016 - 3:28 pm

There’s a new kind of San Juan Tour.

Thanks to the arrival of City Sightseeing, Puerto Rico is now home to a group of hop-on, hop-off open-top buses all over the island’s capital.

It’s a welcome addition for a city that’s among the more fascinating to visit in the Caribbean.

“Puerto Rico has plenty to offer to both local and international travelers. I’m certain that the arrival of City Sightseeing will highlight our commitment to diversify our offerings within the tourism sector and will attract new travelers to our Island,” said Ingrid Rivera Rocafort, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. “This installment will strengthen Puerto Rico’s tourism industry, as well as the Island’s economic development.”

Over the course of two years, the $2.7 million partnership with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company is expected to create 45 new jobs on the island.

The buses will offer ways to explore destinations like Old San Juan, Isla Verde, Carolina and Condado, with a total of 30 offered locations in the metropolitan area.

The complete San Juan Tour lasts for 75 minutes.

“We are thrilled to expand our international presence by partnering with such a key destination in the Caribbean,” said Ybarra Valdenebro, president and CEO of City Sightseeing. “We also believe that Puerto Rico’s potential, combined with our open top bus service will help strengthen its economic development and help increase the employment rate throughout the Island.”
