The Norwegian Getaway cruise ship made its inaugural visit to St Kitts and Nevis this week, contributing to the significant number of cruise ships already visiting the island.

St Kitts and Nevis Minister of Tourism Lindsay Grant welcomed the ship to the island at an onboard ceremony.

“It augurs well with our tourism product,” he said. “I believe the synergies between Norwegian and our tourism product speaks well for us in the future.”

Grant added that there will be six coming calls from the Norwegian Cruise Line including Norwegian Breakaway and Gem.

“This is really exceptional for us because during this season we are going to break the 1 millionth passenger mark and so this is special to be within this grouping,” he said.

He concluded that the Government of National Unity is committed to the development and sustainability of its tourism product, and is appreciative of the cruise line visiting its shores.
