Trinidad and Tobago is looking to the French Caribbean as a potential market for its exports.

The country’s exporTT agency is leading a trade mission to the French Caribbean this week, including Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana.

The project is being sponsored by the CARTfund.

The mission includes 10 companies from sectors including food and beverage, construction materials, the creative industries, wood and wood products and personal care products, among others.

It is the third time exporTT has sent such a mission to the region; five of the 10 companies have visited in previous years.

The delegation is visiting each territory for two days, with “matchmaking’ meetings set up between Trinidad and Tobago companies and potential buyers.

The aggregate population of the three French departments is roughly the same size as that of Trinidad and Tobago.

“exporTT intends to build on its successes in the market and expand its trade with its French Caribbean neighbours,” the group said in a statement.
