The Apex Group Bermuda Sail Grand Prix is officially set to return to Bermuda on May 9–10, 2026, SailGP announced as part of its global season reveal.
The event will once again bring the world’s fastest sailing fleet to Bermuda’s Great Sound, delivering two days of high-speed racing and significant economic impact for the island. The 2026 edition will mark Bermuda’s fourth time hosting the competition.
Bermuda is confirmed as one of several global host cities for SailGP’s 2026 season — a lineup that includes New York, Saint-Tropez, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, and Abu Dhabi — in what is expected to be the league’s most expansive season yet. The global championship will run for 11 months.
“The return of the Apex Group Bermuda Sail Grand Prix in 2026 marks a strategic milestone for Bermuda,” said Erin Wright who is the acting CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority. “This isn’t just a premier sporting event, it’s a catalyst for growth. With global broadcast visibility and international appeal, SailGP strengthens Bermuda’s position on the world stage while driving visitation and local economic impact.”
SailGP’s last event in Bermuda, held in 2024, drew more than 4,200 attendees and generated $4.9 million in economic impact. The broadcast reached 13.5 million viewers globally, with 41.2 million additional views across social media platforms.
The competition features national teams racing on identical 50-foot foiling catamarans capable of reaching speeds close to 100 km/h. Fans can expect immersive spectator experiences along the waterfront, elevated hospitality offerings, and locally driven community programming aligned with SailGP’s sustainability and impact initiatives.
The 2026 event also aligns with Bermuda’s National Tourism Plan, which prioritizes sports tourism as a key pillar of growth.
