Anguilla Is Hotter Than Ever. Now the Island Has a New Director of Tourism.

By: Alexander Britell - May 26, 2025 - 7:00 pm

Anguilla is seeing record-breaking visitor totals, and now the island just named a new director of tourism, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Anguilla’s Tourism Minster Cardigan Connor has tapped Jameel Rochester as the new director of tourism at the Anguilla Tourist Board.

He will be joined by industry veteran and longtime ATB officer Chantelle Richardson as deputy director of tourism.

Richardson, a native of Anguilla, was most recently the assistant rooms division manager at the Wymara resort in Turks and Caicos. He has also served in leadership positions at Anguilla hotels including Zemi Beach and the Four Seasons, among others.

Rochester is actually returning to the ATB; he was earlier in his career the manager for destination experience, among other positions.

Richardson will be joined by Chairperson of the Anguilla Tourist Board Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch, who just took office a few weeks ago.

“As our tourism industry rapidly evolves in response to digital innovation and shifting consumer behavior, a new generation of leaders must take the helm,” Vanterpool-Kubisch said in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal. “Their fluency with emerging communication tools and selling platforms positions them to drive engagement, enhance customer experiences, and keep the industry competitive in a global market.”

The island has been seeing renewed interest as year-round destination, thanks to a big push that began last summer.
