A Great Little Creperie in St Maarten

By: Guy Britton - April 2, 2025 - 4:59 pm

We’ve always loved the Maho area of St Maarten: it’s one of those core, original corners of the Caribbean that first became popular half a century ago and continues to set the standard for a fun, authentic getaway.

No matter where you’re staying in St Maarten, whether it’s at the excellent Sonesta complex or at a small boutique hotel, walking around the streets of Maho never fails to entertain.

It’s also home to some great places to eat, from the always-good Mr. Chow to another one of our favorite spots: the Creperie Cape Cafe.

If you like these doughy fried delights, this is the spot: a tiny, friendly little cafe off the main street in Maho.

The menu is vast, with a mix of both savory crepes (including some inventive takes like the Mexican crepe (marinated chicken, mozzarella, peppers, raw onions and spicy sauce) and the St Barth, with roquette, goat cheese, nuts and honey.

OF course, there’s a selection of sweet ones, too: including the classic with salted caramel butter (a must) and a particularly decadent one with orange jam and grand marnier.

If you don’t want a crepe, you will find a nice selection of salads, and a full selection of coffees and a small bar offering. But the star here is for sure the dough.

It’s just a lovely place to be and, in our view, a must-stop on any trip to the island, French or Dutch side.
