This Top Riviera Maya Resort Brand Is Expanding to Montego Bay, Jamaica

It’s one of the top all-inclusive resorts on the Riviera Maya in Mexico: UNICO 20°87°, which has earned rave reviews for its locally-focused, authenticity rich adults-only experience in the Mexican Caribbean. And now the UNICO brand is adding another latitude to its collection.

Parent company AIC Hotels has announced plans to expand the brand into Montego Bay, Jamaica, it confirmed this week.

The move is what AIC’s Ashe Tembe called a “natural step, allowing us to bring the brand to new destinations known for their vibrant cultures and natural beauty.”

So far, AIC isn’t saying much other than that the hotel will be in Montego Bay (the UNICO brand is also opening another resort in Mexico’s Puerto Vallarta.) The Puerto Vallarta resort is opening next year, so we wouldn’t expect anything in Jamaica before 2026 at the earliest.

As a point of comparison, a room at the existing UNICO is priced right now at about $428 per night, so you can probably expect a similar range at the point when the Montego Bay location opens.

Jamaican tourism officials had suggested that UNICO would be coming, (and Caribbean Journal Invest reported the expansion back in 2022) but this is the first public acknowledgement by AIC of the opening.

The expansion would be a boon for the north coast of Jamaica, bringing in both UNICO’s quality and helping to attract its network of devoted travelers.
