In Tulum, A Different Kind of All-Inclusive Beach Resort

It’s no secret that Tulum is just about the biggest thing in travel right now now, with a brand-new airport, a wave of new hotels and sizzling tourism numbers.

But the newest resort to open its doors in the area is far more like the ones that used to dominate Tulum: small, beachfront, boutique — with one major exception: it’s a Hyatt.

The hotel giant, which has been expanding rapidly in the Mexican Caribbean (and Tulum) of late, has officially debuted the new Casa Zemna, a 21-room luxury all-inclusive resort that’s part of the recently-opened Secrets Tulum resort.

The new property, set about 15 minutes away from the actual Secrets Tulum (a resort which isn’t actually on the beach) is located within the Secrets Tulum Beach Club.

It’s what Hyatt calls a “boho chic beachfront resort,” much more in line with the sorts of tiny, intimate beach hotels that first helped put Tulum on the map.

In recent years, hotel development has tended toward large brands and large resorts – making the new Casa Zemna a kind of hybrid for the area.

The five-bedroom villa is also an option.

“Casa Zamna at Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club seamlessly captures the destination’s rustic appeal with the conveniences of a luxury all-inclusive resort, promising the ideal destination to relax in paradise,” said José Carlos Sánchez, the resort’s general manager, in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal.

The tiny property, designed by Mexican architect Eduardo Garcia Figueroa, also has a five-bedroom villa that’s bookable on its own.

So what else do you need to know?

The resort has six different room categories, all of which come with private preferred club access, 24-hour room service and upgraded mini bars, among other touches. Guests naturally get access to all of the amenities of the regular Secrets Tulum property.

Yes, it is also part of the World of Hyatt.

So what does this resort cost?

A sample itinerary for next week showed all-inclusive rates starting at $276 per person per night.
