Frontier Is Launching New Nonstop Flights to Cartagena This December

The new Orlando route starts December 19, adding another way to reach Colombia’s Caribbean coast — and its collection of historic boutique hotels.
The rooftop pools. The flower-covered balconies. The evenings spent walking between plazas inside the old city walls. Cartagena offers a different kind of Caribbean vacation, with centuries-old architecture and small hotels at the center of the experience.
Now Frontier Airlines is adding a new nonstop route to the Colombian coastal city, with service from Orlando International Airport beginning December 19, 2026.
The New Flights
Frontier plans to operate the Orlando–Cartagena route once weekly, flying into Rafael Núñez International Airport. The service was listed as subject to government approval when the airline released its schedule.
The December debut puts the route on the calendar for the winter vacation season. With only one flight each week, checking both outbound and return dates should come before choosing your hotel.
The Cartagena service is part of Frontier’s first expansion into South America, alongside new Orlando flights to Medellín and Bogotá. Cartagena is the Caribbean option: a coastal city where you can spend the morning exploring the historic center and the afternoon beside a hotel pool.
Three Hotels to Try
Start with Nácar Hotel Cartagena, Curio Collection by Hilton, the former Tcherassi Hotel + Spa. We covered its arrival in Hilton’s portfolio, and it remains an option for pairing a boutique setting with Hilton Honors benefits. The 49-room property occupies restored historic architecture, with a pool and terrace bar overlooking the city.
Then there’s Casa Carolina, the boutique hotel we reported on when it opened. Set in a restored 16th-century mansion inside the Walled City, it has just 15 rooms, Ayurvedic spa treatments and a rooftop pool. Its rooftop cocktail program comes through a partnership with Cartagena’s El Barón, giving you another reason to head upstairs before dinner.
Our third pick is Casa San Agustín, a luxury boutique hotel spanning three historic houses. Choose it for a stay centered on Cartagena’s colonial architecture, with rooms and suites in the historic quarter and dinner at its Alma restaurant. It’s another reason to make the old city your base.
About That $129 Fare
Frontier introduced the route with one-way fares starting at $129, but that promotion required purchase by September 16. It covered selected departures from January 14 through April 5, 2027, with blackout dates. That sale has ended, so check current pricing for your dates before booking.
