This Dominican Republic Resort Has Private-Pool Suites, Beachfront Rooms — and Two MICHELIN Keys

Eden Roc Cap Cana has retained its Two-Key distinction for 2026, and its original pool suites remain the rooms we remember most.

Eden Roc Cap Cana has once again received Two MICHELIN Keys, retaining one of the hotel world’s most significant distinctions for 2026, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The award recognizes what we found when we stayed at the 68-room Cap Cana resort: Eden Roc is intimate, deeply private and unlike any other luxury hotel in the Dominican Republic. Its newer beachfront rooms are excellent, but it was the original freestanding suites, each with its own private pool, that we loved most.

Those suites give Eden Roc its singular character. They sit apart from the beach in a lush enclave of gardens and winding pathways, creating the sensation of staying in a private Caribbean residence rather than a conventional resort room.

I’ve stayed here, and it really is that good.

The Original Private-Pool Suites

The Luxury Pool Junior Suites start at 830 square feet, with vaulted ceilings, private courtyards, covered gazebos and individual swimming pools.

Each one also has an exterior rain shower, a private spa area, butler service and a golf cart for getting around the resort. The larger one-bedroom and family suites extend the same concept across even more space, while the resort’s two-bedroom villas include private pools, living rooms and kitchenettes.

The separation from the main beach is part of the appeal. You can spend the morning beside your own pool, order breakfast or lunch to the suite and then drive your golf cart to the beach club when you want to be closer to the water.

They remain some of our favorite accommodations anywhere in the Dominican Republic.

The Newer Beachfront Rooms

Eden Roc later expanded toward the Caribbean Sea with a collection of newer beachfront rooms and suites. These accommodations trade the secluded garden setting for immediate access to the beach and broad ocean views.

The Deluxe Beachfront Rooms have 590 square feet of space and ocean-view terraces or balconies. The one-bedroom beachfront suites expand to 1,100 square feet, adding a living room, dining space and equipped kitchen.

The beachfront rooms are polished, spacious and closer to the resort’s beach club, restaurants and main pool. Travelers choosing between the two sections are essentially deciding between a private pool and residential seclusion or a newer room directly beside the sand.

We would still choose one of the original private-pool suites, but the beachfront collection is an excellent option for travelers who want the Caribbean Sea immediately outside their room.

The Eden Roc Experience

Eden Roc is the only Relais & Châteaux hotel in the Dominican Republic, a distinction reflected most clearly in its service and food.

The resort’s dining collection includes the Mediterranean-inspired Mediterraneo, the beachfront La Palapa and BLUE Grill + Bar. Its private beach club has an infinity pool, shaded daybeds and a particularly serene stretch of coastline.

Guests also have access to the wider Cap Cana community, including the Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Espada golf course, the marina and Scape Park.

The Two MICHELIN Keys place Eden Roc among a very small group of hotels recognized by the MICHELIN Guide for an exceptional stay. For Eden Roc, the renewed distinction is as much about the people behind the experience as it is about the suites, restaurants and beachfront setting.

That feels right to us. Eden Roc’s physical product is impressive, but what stayed with us was the combination of privacy, personal service and the freedom of having a private pool waiting outside our suite.
