Turks and Caicos’ Windsong Resort Has a New Look, With a Rooftop Restaurant, Private Villas and Some of the Caribbean’s Best Snorkeling

Windsong Resort on Grace Bay is adding a new rooftop restaurant and an expanded villa experience to one of the most compelling snorkeling locations in Turks and Caicos.

There is something different happening at Windsong Resort on Grace Bay Beach. The Turks and Caicos resort unveiled its new Pelago rooftop restaurant and newly rebranded Rooftop Villa Collection on July 17, two additions that give you a very different reason to have this property on your radar.

Windsong has always had one advantage that is difficult to reproduce: it sits directly in front of one of the best-known snorkeling reefs on Providenciales, putting the underwater experience almost immediately off the beach. Caribbean Journal recently named Windsong one of our favorite resorts in Turks and Caicos for precisely that combination of Grace Bay and direct-off-the-beach snorkeling.

Now the resort is adding another dimension, one that makes Windsong feel increasingly complete as a Turks and Caicos vacation: a destination restaurant above the resort, much more ambitious residential-style accommodations and a stronger reason to spend more of your trip right here.

A New Rooftop Restaurant Over Grace Bay

The most immediately intriguing addition is Pelago, the new rooftop restaurant overlooking Grace Bay.

The concept takes its name from the Greek word for open sea, with a menu centered on Mediterranean cooking accented by Asian influences. It is open for breakfast and lunch before transitioning to dinner, when the restaurant adds wine pairings designed around individual courses.

The location is the story. Grace Bay has a growing restaurant scene, but the idea of sitting above the resort with panoramic views of the water gives Windsong a signature dining experience that it did not have before.

It is also arriving at an important moment for the property. Windsong has been evolving its accommodations and resort experience, and Pelago gives that evolution a highly visible centerpiece.

The Villas Are Becoming a Bigger Part of the Windsong Story

The second big change is the resort’s newly rebranded Rooftop Villa Collection, with accommodations ranging from one bedroom all the way to 11 bedrooms.

These are not simply larger hotel rooms. The collection is designed around expansive living spaces and private rooftop terraces, with features including hot tubs, outdoor grills, alfresco dining spaces and lounge areas.

The defining feature is that private rooftop space, accessed by spiral staircase or, in select accommodations, a private glass elevator. It creates a villa-style experience while keeping you connected to everything else at the resort.

At the top end, the collection can accommodate very large families and groups, making Windsong an increasingly compelling option for the kind of multigenerational Caribbean vacation that might otherwise send you searching for a standalone villa.

“Families and groups are increasingly looking for accommodations that combine generous living spaces with premium resort amenities,” Windsong General Manager Anette Mullings said.

That gets to the larger idea behind what Windsong is doing. The resort is positioning its villa product between the traditional Grace Bay hotel stay and the private-villa vacation, giving larger groups residential space without separating them from the beach, restaurants and resort services.

Why Windsong Is Doing This Now

Turks and Caicos has become one of the Caribbean’s most competitive luxury hotel markets, particularly on Providenciales.

Caribbean Journal has been tracking the surge in Turks and Caicos hotel demand, including rising occupancy and some of the highest hotel rates anywhere in the Caribbean.

That kind of pricing changes what guests expect. A great beach is still essential in Turks and Caicos, but hotels increasingly have to give you compelling dining, distinctive accommodations and experiences you cannot easily replicate at the resort next door.

Windsong’s answer is becoming clearer. The reef remains the anchor, but Pelago gives it a new food experience, while the Rooftop Villa Collection moves the resort deeper into the residential-style luxury that continues to gain traction around Providenciales.

We have seen that trend across the destination, including a growing group of under-the-radar Turks and Caicos resorts offering alternatives to the island’s biggest names.

The Reef Is Still the Secret Weapon

None of the changes would be as compelling if Windsong did not already have its location.

The resort is directly on Grace Bay Beach, with the coral reef in Princess Alexandra National Park immediately offshore. That gives Windsong a different version of the Grace Bay vacation.

You are still staying on the destination’s signature beach, but snorkeling is not an excursion that requires most of your day or a boat transfer. You can head out from the beach and be exploring the reef within minutes.

That may sound like a small distinction until you consider how you actually spend a Caribbean vacation. Having one of the island’s defining experiences immediately offshore means snorkeling can be something you do whenever you feel like it rather than something around which you have to organize the day.

And it remains Windsong’s biggest differentiator even as everything else around the property changes.

It Is Easier to Reach Than You May Think

Providenciales remains one of the Caribbean’s easiest luxury destinations to reach from South Florida, with nonstop flights from Miami taking less than two hours.

Air access continues to expand from other major United States gateways, too. Caribbean Journal has been following the increase closely, including Delta’s expansion of Turks and Caicos flights.

That connectivity has helped turn Grace Bay into one of the Caribbean’s most in-demand luxury destinations, particularly for shorter vacations where you do not want to lose much of the trip getting there.

Once you arrive on Providenciales, Windsong is also a relatively quick trip from the airport to Grace Bay.

What It Costs Right Now

Turks and Caicos is rarely a low-cost Caribbean vacation, particularly on Grace Bay, but Windsong can offer an interesting entry point outside the peak winter period.

In a recent Caribbean Journal rate check, we found standard rooms starting in the low $400s per night for select September dates before taxes, with breakfast included. Rates can change quickly depending on dates and availability.

That is worth watching because Windsong occupies an interesting place in the Grace Bay market: you can enter through a conventional hotel room and still get the same beach-and-reef location, or move significantly upward into the Rooftop Villa Collection.

The latter is a fundamentally different kind of vacation, particularly if you are traveling with several generations or a group of friends.

Which Windsong Stay Is Right for You?

Couples who plan to spend most of the trip on the beach, snorkeling and exploring Providenciales do not necessarily need one of the largest accommodations. A room or smaller suite gets you the central Windsong advantages without paying for space you may barely use.

The Rooftop Villa Collection becomes much more compelling when the accommodation itself is a large part of the vacation. Families, groups of friends and multigenerational parties can spread out, dine outside and spend time together on the rooftop rather than treating the room as somewhere to return at night.

The largest villas are the splurge, particularly if the private rooftop is central to how you envision the trip.

And Pelago improves the proposition for everyone, regardless of room category. You can stay in one of the simpler accommodations and still have the resort’s newest experience waiting upstairs.

Windsong has been around Grace Bay for years, but this feels like an important new chapter for the property.

The reef is still there. Grace Bay is still outside your door.

What has changed is everything around those two advantages: a rooftop restaurant, a much more compelling villa collection and a resort with more reasons to keep you on property.
