You can get to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands for $387 roundtrip nonstop right now on Delta Air Lines, with flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas for travel from June 1 through June 8.

The fare showed up this week on Google Flights and includes nonstop service both ways, one of the stronger early summer Caribbean fares we’ve seen out of the Northeast. Delta’s nonstop route between New York and St. Thomas takes just under four hours, making it one of the easier island getaways from the New York area once summer starts approaching.

That June travel window lands right in one of the Caribbean’s quieter periods before school-break demand fully ramps up later in the month. Hotel rates across St. Thomas often soften slightly in early June, beaches feel less crowded and water conditions are already fully into summer mode.

The nonstop part is what makes this fare notable. Caribbean itineraries from New York regularly drop into the $300 range during shoulder season, but many of those routes require connections through Miami, Charlotte or San Juan. A nonstop Delta fare under $400 to St. Thomas heading into summer is a different category entirely.

What a Week in St. Thomas Looks Like

A June 1 to June 8 trip gives you enough time to use St. Thomas as both a beach destination and a jumping-off point for the rest of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

You can spend mornings at Magens Bay, still one of the Caribbean’s signature beaches, with long white sand and calm water that stays swimmable almost year-round. On the east end of the island, Sapphire Beach remains one of the better snorkeling spots in St. Thomas, particularly for travelers who want restaurants, bars and ferries nearby.

The Red Hook area gives you quick ferry service to St. John, where day trips to Trunk Bay, Cruz Bay and the Virgin Islands National Park easily fill an entire afternoon. Red Hook itself stays active at night, with busy waterfront bars and restaurants drawing both visitors and locals.

Charlotte Amalie remains one of the Caribbean’s more walkable cruise-port capitals, with old Danish-era buildings, harborfront restaurants and small rum bars spread through downtown streets overlooking the harbor.

On the quieter north side of the island, roads toward Hull Bay and Dorothea Beach feel noticeably less developed, particularly compared to the resort-heavy eastern corridor.

For travelers looking for a smaller beach resort experience, Secret Harbour Beach Resort remains one of the stronger choices for longer stays, especially with full kitchens, quieter beachfront and strong snorkeling directly offshore.
