The Sofitel Legend Santa Clara is our favorite place to stay in Cartagena.

The old city. The beaches. The art. The magic. Cartagena has been surging in popularity in recent years, with travelers drawn to its rare blend of colonial charm and modern cool. And if you’re heading to the hotspot on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, it’s even easier to get there.

Cartagena just relaunched its two nonstop routes to Cartagena, with nonstop flights back from both Miami and New York.

The New York-Cartagena flights run four times per week, while Miami-Cartagena are three times per week.

Both resumed service earlier this month.

If you’re heading to Cartagena, we recommend going for something within the centuries-old city, where you can find a great mix of boutique hotels.

That includes our favorite, the Sofitel Legend Cartagena, an exquisitely restored historic compound that oozes enchantment.

Rates are just under $800 there, but that does include daily breakfast.
