Trinidad Just Closed What Officials Are Calling a “Dynamic” Cruise Season
17 calls. Eight inaugural calls. Two new cruise lines. 17,317 cruise passengers. Trinidad isn’t exactly a Caribbean cruise powerhouse, but the the island just closed what officials are calling a “dynamic” season.
The season officially concluded with a visit by the Odyssey, a “residential” cruise ship by Villa Vie Residences. The call on Port of Spain was the first by the brand.
Trinidad’s position at the far southern corner of the region means, simply by virtue of its location, will never be a Caribbean cruise powerhouse.

Having said that, the island has been quietly seeing its numbers improve, mostly thanks to calls by smaller-ship lines.
With the cruise season now closed, Trinidad will have to redouble its efforts to draw stayover visitors for the summer season, particularly in light of the recent US Travel Advisory on visiting.
Have you ever been to Port of Spain? It’s a fascinating, vibrant city that’s not really like anywhere else in the Caribbean. The biggest standout? The city’s food culture, home to some truly breathing cuisine thanks to its tapestry of cultures from the West and the East Indies.
