The O:LV is one of our top places to stay in San Juan.

The colorful streets of Old San Juan. Piña coladas at Barrachina (the real birthplace of the drink, in our opinion. Panama hats at Ole. Evening strolls by the sound of the coqui. There’s a reason they call it the “Island of Enchantment.”

It’s also one of the cheapest destinations to fly to in the Caribbean, and JetBlue is making it even cheaper right now.

The carrier’s latest sale has one-way fares between South Florida and Puerto Rico for as low as $85 one-way.

While it’s not easy to find roundtrips for double that, you can find some attractive fares. Our research showed fares as low as $170 roundtrip on JetBlue.com, including taxes and fees.

Now, you should note that fare is in JetBlue’s “Blue Basic” rate, which doesn’t get you much: just a carry-on bag.

If you want to check a bag, it’s $35 per bag, regardless of your fare class.

So if you save all this money on the airfare, where are you going to stay in San Juan?

We like the boutique Palacio Pronvicial, set in a centuries-old diplomatic building, with rooms starting at $284 right now.

If you want something in San Juan’s hip, lively Condado neighborhood, we’ve stayed countless times at hotels in the O:live portfolio, including the stunning, very sexy O:LV Hotel, which has one of the coolest rooftops (including a lagoon-view hot tub) in Puerto Rico. Rooms there start at just $272, a very good rate, according to Google Hotels.
