Georgetown, Grand Cayman Is Getting Its First Destination Hotel, With a Rooftop Infinity Pool and Penthouse Lofts
The Lobster Pot. Grand Tiki. The Cayman Islands National Museum. The Wreck of the Cali. The jewelry shops. Georgetown, Grand Cayman is one of the must-visit stops on the island, its capital and a world-class shopping destination on a beautiful stretch of harbor front.
But what the capital has never really had is a destination hotel of its own: travelers tend to go for more popular overnight destinations like Seven Mile Beach, the East End and Cayman Kai.
This fall, though, that’s about to change in a big way, with the debut of the highly-anticipated new One GT, the first luxury hotel in Georgetown and a major new destination hotel for the whole island.
The hotel, which is slated to open in November, will have everything from a rooftop pool and lounge to a residential-style layout with 177 rooms ranging from condo units to penthouse lofts.

The property, set across 10 stories, will also have a French-Mediterranean eatery, a pastry-cafe and, most importantly, a setting right in the heart of downtown.
Other amenities will include room service, full kitchens in the rooms and private balconies with hard-to-match views of the harbor.
But the rooftop, called the “Sky Club,” will be the centerpiece of the hotel, with private cabanas, craft cocktails and what the hotel bills as the only rooftop with a pool on the island. (It’s part of a growing rooftop movement in Grand Cayman, one that includes Pom Pom at the Hotel Indigo, one of our favorite rooftops in the whole Caribbean).

The property is being managed by Remington Hospitality, which has been growing fast in the region and calls Georgetown a “dynamic market,” according to a statement provided to Caribbean Journal.
You should note that while it’s targeting a November opening, booking hasn’t been launched quite yet. Rates haven’t been released, but we think they’ll be in the luxury range, at least $600 or $700 per night based on similar prices on the island.
If you’re looking for a Grand Cayman vacation right now, we love the recently-opened Hotel Indigo and the upstart, wellness focused Vida, a tiny boutique in the laid-back West Bay area (rooms from $819 right now).
What about flights? Grand Cayman has been seeing a continued uptick in visitors, and that’s in part due to continued growth in airlift.
You can find flights from Miami right now for $322 on American Airlines and $369 on Cayman Airways out of Miami; you can fly for $641 out of New York on JetBlue, according to Google Flights’ options.
