Riu Resorts Is Opening a New All-Inclusive in Cancun This Year
Punta Cana. Jamaica. Aruba. Paradise Island. Riu has 27 different all-inclusive resorts across the Caribbean, and another 22 in Mexico – including eight tin the Cancun area.
And after a number of big-time refurbishment projects around the region, Riu is adding yet another new resort in the Caribbean this year, Caribbean Journal has learned.
Riu is set to add a ninth hotel in Cancun before the end of this year, according to Riu CEO Luis Riu, the Spanish chain’s chief executive said this week.
Construction is very much in process for the Riu Ventura resort, which will have a total of 700 rooms near Cancun’s Playa Delfines (“Dolphin Beach.”)

So what do we know so far? The property will have all of the Riu signatures, from the drink dispensers in the rooms to the 24-hour all-inclusive program, along with some themed eateries.
It will also be a family-friendly resort, although it’s not yet clear if it will have one of the company’s new Splash water park concepts.
It’s the first new Riu in Cancun proper since the debut of the adults-only Hotel Riu Palace Kukulkan, which opened its doors in 2023, as we reported.
The resort is not yet taking bookings, however.
If you’re looking for a Riu to try in Cancun before that, the Riu Dunamar is a good place to start, set in the increasingly popular destination of Costa Mujeres, a place often called the “new Cancun,” including by us.

The Mexican Caribbean beach resort has rooms as low as $340.20 per night right now; that gets you a double standard room .For a suite, the room rate goes up to $419 per night.
The news of the development comes a few months after Riu finished the large-scale makeover of the Riu Negril resort in Jamaica and the Riu Palace Bavaro in Punta Cana.
While tourism to Cancun has been slowing in recent months (at least as compared to its post-pandemic highs), it still remains a strong value play, with some very attractive airline fares ranging from $358 on JetBlue from New York to $352 roundtrip on Spirit out of Miami. Cancun has also remained one of the area’s top hotel development hotspots, including a new Melia that just opened as well.
