Melia Just Opened a New All-Inclusive in the Hotel Zone of Cancun, With Swim-Up Rooms and a Water Park

The beach, the nightclubs, the tacos. But if you want to know the thing Cancun really stands out for, it’s this: the all-inclusive resort. Travel up and down the Hotel Zone and you’ll see a seemingly never-ending strip of all-inclusive resorts.

But its not surprising: as we’ve been reporting for years now, all-inclusive is the single fastest-growing segment in the Caribbean right now, with just about every major hotel brand getting into the all-inclusive game and looking to redefine the concept.

Spain’s Melia, of course, is a veteran of the concept, with a broad portfolio of all-inclusives with a focus in the Caribbean and Mexico (including a huge collection in Cuba, too).

And while many of its competitors have been adding new resorts at a breakneck pace (including the excellent, newly-all-inclusive Marriott Cancun), Melia isn’t slowing down. The company actually just opened its second resort in as many months with another new resort: the Melia Casa Maya, an all-inclsuive resort in the heart of Cancun’s Hotel Zone.

It’s the newest addition to the Hotel Zone.

The new Casa Maya is a family-friendly resort with 260 rooms in a prime stretch of coastline in the Hotel Zone.

On the dining side, there’s a large buffet, along with a beach club called Cape Nao and an Italian spot, too.

There’s also a nod to one of the other most popular things in travel right now: the water park, with a full-fledged aquatic park called Splash Island — think spray zones, slides and a special area for younger guests.

The resort additionally includes Melia’s popular The Level, a hotel-within-a-hotel concept that includes elevated room amenities and special personalized touches.

It follows the recent opening of the Zel resort in Punta Cana, a property notable for being the result of a collaboration with tennis legend Rafael Nadal.

If you’re family with kids, a water park is a home run.

So what about prices? Pretty good. You can find rooms starting at $349 per night. That test you an ocean view traditional room with two beds or a king bed. For a room in The Level, you’ll have to pay about $414 per night. The room we’d suggest, a Level room with swim-up pool access, you’re looking at around $587 per night.

What about flights?

You can find flights from South Florida to Cancun for about $308 round-trip and New York to Cancun for $348, according to data from Google Flights.
