It’s one of the fastest-growing cruise ports in the Eastern Caribbean, and now St Kitts’ Port Zante has another new ship in its portfolio.

The new Iona ship, part of the P&O Cruises fleet, made its first call on Port Zante this week.

The new ship has more than 30 dining concepts, 10 entertainment venues and four pools, with capacity for 5,200 guests and another 1,800 crew members.

“The arrival of Iona represents another exciting development for St. Kitts as a progressive cruise destination,” said Kelly Fontenelle, Chief Executive Officer of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority. “With its impressive features and vast capacity, Iona brings thousands of visitors to our shores, further strengthening our cruise tourism sector. We look forward to welcoming more cruise lines and passengers this cruise season.”

St Kitts is “committed to promoting its diverse attractions, including its landscapes, rich history, and unique cultural experiences,” the St Kitts Tourism Authority said in a statement.

In recent years, Port Zante (set in the charming town of Basseterre) has carved out a prominent position as one of the major ports in the Eastern Caribbean.
