This Playa del Carmen Luxury Resort Has a New Look

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 15, 2023

One of the top resorts in the Mexican Caribbean has unveiled a major new look: the Fairmont Mayakoba, which has completed a massive renovation.

The project included a complete renovation of all guest rooms, an “overhaul” of its eateries and bars, a new look for three beach pools and the main pool, and a new lobby.

The property also transformed its kids’ program, with a new-look kids club and the addition of a second kids club.

The centerpiece of the project is Maykana, a new beach club with private cabanas, fire pits and oceanside pools.

Maykana includes five dining concepts: the Mediterranean-inspired Brisas; the grill eatery called Fuego; the Latin cocktail bar called Aqua; and Gaia, the signature Mexican eatery.

The new look comes as the property marks its 17th anniversary.

Fairmont has launched a 30 percent off program for all stays from May through December to mark the occasion.

The hotel is part of the luxe Mayakoba community, which also includes resorts by Rosewood, Banyan Tree and Andaz.
