Grenada Has a New Wreck Dive

One of the Caribbean’s top scuba diving destinations just got even better.

Grenada has added a new wreck dive site, with the sinking of the MV Anina at the bottom of the Purple Rain Reef.

The Anina had been anchored near the Grenada fish market for some time, until the owner volunteered the ship to the Grenada Tourism Authority for sinking.

The team at Aquanauts Grenada evaluated the safety of the wreck for diving after the initial sinking, and the first group of divers enjoyed the wreck shortly after.

According to Aquanauts, the leading dive operator in Grenada, the Anina “is the perfect dive site for Advanced Open Water divers with Nitrox certification and divers who want to upgrade their training.”

The 200-foot former container cargo vessel was built in 1970 and spent its days cruising the Baltic and North Seas before heading to the Caribbean.
