Barceló Expands in Mexico

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - August 2, 2017

Barceló Hotel Group has opened Barceló Mexico Reforma, a new 500-room, five-star flagship hotel in the heart of Mexico City.

Barceló Mexico Reforma marks the group’s first urban hotel in Mexico, and will serve as a fitting addition to Paseo de la Reforma, one of the city’s dynamic destinations for shopping, culture, tourism and business.

“With 21 hotels, we already have a strong presence in Mexico, but it has taken us some time to reach the capital,” says Juan Perez Sosa, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing in the United States for Barcelo. “We are proud to establish our presence in Mexico City. It will be a pleasure to demonstrate our extensive expertise in the urban hospitality industry, which we have been developing over the course of many years in major Latin American and European cities.”

It’s a bit of a departure for a brand known for its all inclusive properties in Mexico and the wider region.

Paseo de la Reforma has experienced a real estate boom in recent years, thanks to the construction of large skyscrapers and the restoration of classic buildings that blend modernism with contemporary architectural styles.

The hotel, which was completely renovated in 2015, features a buffet restaurant, a steakhouse, lobby bar, wellness offerings, a sports bar and lounge, and modern events facilities that can accommodate groups of up to 800 people.

The Barceló Mexico Reforma accommodates both business, cultural and leisure travelers to make the most of the unique city, and its setting that reflects the spirit of the Mexican people and their traditions.

“We’re using our classic Barceló brand principles for this new property,” said Sosa. “This will enable us to transform Barceló México Reforma into an example of quality and exclusiveness, where guests can enjoy exciting and unforgettable experiences.”
