Antigua Sailing Week Keeps Growing

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 22, 2017

Demand continues to rise for this year’s 50th edition of Antigua Sailing Week.

The number of vessels registered to compete has grown to 141 this year, with more entries coming in, according to organizers.

“At this time last year we were at 94 entries, so we are very enthusiastic that we are trending well above those figures,” said Alison Sly-Adams, commercial director of Antigua Sailing Week.

Organizers are making a major effort to regain the peak Antigua Sailing Week numbers of 200 ships, reached in the late 1990s.

“Antigua Sailing Week has become a staple on our annual events calendar as one of our premier product offerings and for the 50th year we are committed to delivering an exceptional experience to our visitors as well as our locals who look forward to this activity every year for entertainment purposes as well as to pursue their economic livelihoods,” said Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Minister Asot Michael. “We will spare no effort in marketing this milestone event regionally and internationally to ensure its success.”
