What were the top hotel deals of the past year?

The recently-concluded Caribbean Hotel and Resort and Investment Summit had the answers, announcing awards for several high-profile transactions and developments this week in Miami.

The CHRIS Development of the Year Award went to the Marriott Port-au-Prince in Haiti, a 175-key, $45 million development.

The Single Asset Transaction of the Year Award went to the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino, the former Radisson Resort which was sold to Aruba Growth Fund JV Goldman Sachs by affiliated entities of Carlson Hotels Real Estate Inc. for an undisclosed amount, and brokered by Eastdil Secured.

Liam Day of BCQS International chaired the award committee, with Kent Schwarz of Colliers Interantional Hotels chairing the Single Asset Transaction of the Year award committee.

The committees were comprised of hotel industry leaders who selected, reviewed, and nominated deals, with CHRIS delegates making the final votes.
