There’s yet another new hotel on Mexico’s Riviera Maya: The Beach House at Thompson Playa Del Carmen, which officially opened Tuesday in the bohemian seaside town.
The 27-room villa-style property complements sister hotel Thompson Playa Del Carmen, the 92-room boutique which opened last November on Fifth Avenue, the town’s main thoroughfare.
Conceptualized by Mexican architecture firms AS Arquitectura and Seijo Peon, and designers Niz + Chauvet, the hotel’s nine rooms and 18 suites feature mid-century décor and custom furnishings in a soothing palette of turquoise and beige.
Decorated using locally-sourced materials including hand-pressed Guadalajara tiles, stone, and white-washed wood panels, the rooms – which range from 550 to 1,000 square-feet – all boast spacious bathrooms with glass-enclosed showers and ocean-view balconies.
Guests of The Beach House can enjoy a private pool with cabanas and an exclusive oceanfront lounge, as well as the infinity pool on the rooftop of the main hotel, minutes away.
Dining options include the beachfront C Grill, helmed by executive chef Pedro Abascal.
