GRAND BAHAMA — It’s the signature Bahamian cocktail: the Bahama Mama.

While you can find this drink in just about any bar across the 700 islands of the Bahamas, we happened upon the Garden of the Groves, a botanical garden on Grand Bahama that just might be home to the country’s best.

Julia Ryan owns the café in the Garden of the Groves, serving up her rendition of the classic Caribbean cocktail with local and locally-sourced flair.

Easy to make and seriously refreshing, Julia’s version is sure to please any Bahama mama or papa.

Here’s the recipe to make it yourself, courtesy of Julie.

One part coconut rum
-One part gold rum
-One part fresh orange juice
-One part fresh pineapple juice
-A splash of grenadine and a couple of drops of angostura bitters

Method
Mix all of the ingredients in a shaker with ice.  Shake and serve with a garnish of kiwi and Grand Bahamaian grown starfruit and lime.
